Pastor Mark Driscoll:  What I do find concerning, though, is there’s this whole way of new Christian thinking that says Joy IS to be found in the same place that culture and spirituality tells us.  Get rich, get healthy, get happy…health and wealth, prosperity.

Me: A few years ago on Guam, I left my Presbyterian church to attend a Pentacostal church.  I returned to my home church and then left again to attend a Baptist church.  What do I think I learned?  There are no perfect churches.  Different churches tend to preach on different topics and thus have different emphasis.  This goes back to the fact that pastors do not know the whole Bible.  Even the best pastors have certain “specialties”.   Forgive the medical terminology, my dad is a doctor.

I don’t think Joel Osteen is leading others to seek out riches and health as an end in itself.  Just recently I saw Pastor Osteen on Larry King.  He “admitted” to having money, but reminded everyone that having money is not a sin.  It is when the money has you is when you are sinning.  I think Pastor Osteen is a good man. Thinking of Guam

It’s 2 a.m. here in Seattle.  Church is in 8 hours.  I’ll go to bed right after this.  Hmmm.  My wife, son, and I just moved out here two months ago from Guam.  We did it, amongst other reasons, for a better life.  Then why do my wife and I think so much about Guam?
