Explanation of the Gospel of JC p3

The devil thought he got JC (Jesus Christ) then.  But the Bible says that through the death of Jesus Christ, the devil was destroyed!!

But JC is GOD, not just man, so He was raised up from the dead.  GOD cannot die; for He is immortal.  Please remember we are talking about Jesus Christ, a real person who walked the face of this earth.  He is a GOD-man.  Fully GOD and at the same time fully man.  After He rose from the dead, He flew up into Heaven and sat back down at his spot right next to GOD, the Father.

Well, Jesus Christ through his death, ‘paid the price’ for everyone’s sins.  That is why He is sometimes called the Lamb of GOD.  In old time Israel, lambs were sacrificed on the altar for temporary ‘payment’ of sins.  So, in Jesus Christ’s hand rests your life.  For the Bible says the wages of sin is death.  And John 3:16 says that whoever believes in Jesus Christ will have eternal life.  If one will just believe in Jesus Christ, that He is GOD, not a god, but Son of the Most High GOD Himself, then your sins will be taken away or be atoned for.  2,000 years ago, someone you did not know, already purchased your eternal life for you.  Deep down inside, everyone knows there is eternity in them.  This is where it lies.  It lies through GOD, through relationship with Him and to be purified by His blood.

There are a lot of religions and gods, why do I believe in Jesus Christ?  Because He must be GOD.  The Bible says GOD is love.  GOD is good.  GOD is powerful.  GOD is wise.  GOD is rich.  And the Gospel of Jesus Christ shows me that Jesus Christ is all those things.  The Word came to earth and became one of us, so accepting, and gave His life for us.  He didn’t just give His life, He showed us how to live a life of giving and sharing with others.  Just read the Bible.  Jesus Christ died for us, so that we might be blessed not cursed and have a good life.  Only a most powerful GOD could do this, an the more one studies the Gospel, one will began to see the infinite wisdom of GOD.  At first hearing, the Gospel sounds foolish, but when one really begans to hear, one only hears grace, mercy, love, power, and wisdom.  The Bible says that Jesus Christ is GOD in the flesh, and that being true, He is the Creator of all things, and so He is infinitely rich.  I’m careful not to knock other religions, your faith is important, just as mine is to me.  Everyone who loves GOD is seeking Him, and trying to see His face.  You may be able to find GOD as a Buddhist, Muslim, or Jew but I really believe, and this is just me talking right now, that you will never be able to know Him, really know Him and who He really is unless you first know His name, is real name, and that is Jesus.  Please take that step, and call on His name!

Explanation of the Gospel of JC p2

If you believe you are a sinner.  If you believe you are not perfect, always making mistakes then according to the Bible you are on the right track.  According to the Bible, GOD is perfect, sinlessly perfect or glorious.  It says in His Word that GOD cannot tolerate sin and disobedience.  What kind of god would that be if he did?  He wouldn’t be in charge, what he says wouldn’t be happening, and he wouldn’t be just.  Is that the kind of place you’d want to live?  A chaotic and lawless place?  I wouldn’t want to live there.  GOD is gracious and merciful but He is also righteous, good, and just.  The saying “What goes around, comes around.”  Is true.  But in Christianese, whatever you sow you reap.  You can’t do something bad, and not expect something bad to come back to you.  It will because it is justice that it come back, but through GOD’s mercy that bad thing may be withheld.

GOD is sharp!  He remembers and it even says in the Bible that the words and deeds of everyone are being recorded.  So, everyone has a rap sheet.  Ha-ha.  Because GOD is so merciful, we are able to enjoy good, normal lives (not cursed ones) because GOD is withholding, or holding back the punishments and curses that we deserve.  For those of us that are rebel-rousers that is a whole lot of wrath stored up for you.  For the nicer ones out there, less but still punishments stored up.  Because no one is perfect.

Reading the end of the Old Testament, we see that GOD was really angry.  I think the wrath stored up was just too much.  In other words, mankind had been sinning too much.  So what did GOD do?  He couldn’t flood the earth, He promised not to do that again.  He put all the punishment on His Son, Jesus Christ.  The crazy loving thing is that Jesus or the Word (another name for Jesus) agreed to take it.  All the asians in the house will understand this.  Older brothers or sisters growing up always got punished for their younger siblings mess ups.  You see, GOD is a Trinity.  He is three persons in One.  GOD, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  The Son or Word willingly became, not took the form of, a GOD-man, but a man nonetheless!!!  That alone is mind-blowing!  GOD, the creator, became part of His creation.  It’s like a painter become his painting.  How He do that?  Going on, He was punished as mankind’s representative, because He is/was a man.  He was punished and cursed unto death.  In the Bible it says Jesus laid his life down for us, he willfully did it, because He loves us.  Lovers say I would die for you.  He actually died for us.

Explanation of the Gospel of JC p1

Why is the message that Jesus the Christ, the GOD-man, came, died, and rose from the dead so important?  Why do the Christians scramble to share his love in the hope that someone might hear this message?

It changed my life.  Took me from night to day.  And from a tumultuous life to one of peace and blessings from GOD.  It could change yours.

I don’t think people stop to think about who GOD is much.  They know He is up there.  Some believe He created but is uninvolved in the day-to-day affairs of the universe.  Perhaps I think about GOD too much.  Naw.  I don’t think so.

What I’ve come to believe and I think that most people will agree is that GOD has the power to help or ‘hurt’ us.  And don’t we need all the help we can get, especially in this economy.  But why?  Why does GOD want to hurt us.  I think it is similar to a father disciplining his children.  You do wrong you get punished, you do right, you get rewarded.  That seems simple right?  Sorry, but wrong.  We see in the Old Testament, with Moses and the Israelites, that GOD laid down the Ten Commandments, the Law.  GOD then said if you obey you will receive these blessings and if you disobey you will have these curses.  You will know if you are disobeying the law.  But what happened?  Time and time again, the people of GOD disobeyed.  And boy did they disobey badly.  That’s us.  Well, it was me.  Believe me, I messed up over and over again.  It seemed I would just get worse and worse.

People just don’t have it in them to follow the rules of GOD.  By the way there are more than ten.  There are actually a lot of rules if one looks at the text following the Ten Commandents.  We don’t have it in us, and we don’t have the intelligence or power to follow GOD’s rules.  In Christianese, all people are sinners.

Some musings or did MIB get it right?

Remember MIB II (Men In Black II starring Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith)?  At the end, we see the director’s images of a multidimensional universe?  Is it possible that we live in such a universe?  Might we dare to believe that GOD is capable of creating such a wonder?  I truly believe we serve an infinite GOD and that just as angels are beings from another dimension (the spirit world), there just may be other dimensions and creatures out there.

Nobody likes a loser…except GOD

Our world celebrates winners. Perfect people who single handedly accomplish amazing things. But usually, at what cost? Winners in this world may cheat to win, step on the backs of others, steal, and even kill to attain for themselves whatever it is they desire – money, possessions, women, power, fame, etc…

When we look at the Bible, who do we see? Moses, who performed GOD’s miraculous signs and wonders, to lead GOD’s people.  Perhaps he was not the champion we might think him to be. I’ve seen movies that depict his early life to be a grand one; being raised as a prince of Egypt.  But perhaps it didn’t go down like that. When he was adopted by Pharoh’s daughter he did not cease to be a Hebrew. She knew it, her father, the Pharoh, knew it. If Pharoh was killing (hate) Hebrew babies at this time, why would he allow his daughter to raise one? Perhaps Moses was raised as ‘a pet’ of sorts. Forgive me for my bluntness. Also his real mother was allowed to raise him to childhood, so she must have told him who he was. (more…)

I have thoughts that don’t seem to be my own.  I have a ‘sixth sense’ about certain things.  Everyone can agree on having a conscience, or inner voice telling them to do good.  But why won’t people think GOD might be speaking to them.  In Hebrews 3:7+8 we see:

7So, as the Holy Spirit says:
“Today, if you hear his voice,
    8do not harden your hearts
as you did in the rebellion,
during the time of testing in the desert,

GOD speaks.  Why wouldn’t He?  He is a living person who cares about His people.  If you are not a person of faith, might this be a key to unlocking your gift?

The King of Tyre or ‘Be Who You Are’

In Ezekial 28, we see the character, the King of Tyre.

11 The word of the LORD came to me: 12 “Son of man, take up a lament concerning the king of Tyre and say to him: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says:
” ‘You were the model of perfection,
full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

 13 You were in Eden,
       the garden of God;
       every precious stone adorned you:
       ruby, topaz and emerald,
       chrysolite, onyx and jasper,
       sapphire, turquoise and beryl.
       Your settings and mountings  were made of gold;
on the day you were created they were prepared.

14 You were anointed as a guardian cherub,
       for so I ordained you.
       You were on the holy mount of God;
you walked among the fiery stones.

15 You were blameless in your ways
from the day you were created
till wickedness was found in you.

 16 Through your widespread trade
       you were filled with violence,
       and you sinned.
So I drove you in disgrace from the mount of God,
and I expelled you, O guardian cherub,
       from among the fiery stones.

 17 Your heart became proud
       on account of your beauty,
       and you corrupted your wisdom
       because of your splendor.
       So I threw you to the earth;
I made a spectacle of you before kings.

It has been suggested that here the LORD is talking about the Lucifer, the enemy of the GOD.  I’ve heard that many people have said that the original sin was pride.  I know that is a big sin.  It is a ‘foundational sin’.  From this sin comes all other kinds of evil, just like the love of money.  But after looking carefully at this passage, what started Lucifer (“The morning star”) on his path towards what he is today was not pride but being out of the will of GOD, out of his anointing.  He was created to be a guardian, but he himself wanted to be a tradesman (not sure what kind of trade, but for gain?).  He was filled with violence (anger-frustration), probably because he wasn’t doing what GOD made him to do.  Try unscrewing something with a hammer, I’m sure frustration and anger will ensue. Adam and Eve and the Fall

I hear people say that if Adam and Eve just didn’t fall, everything would be perfect because everything was created perfect and we would all go on living perfect lives with GOD forever.  Some people blamed Eve, some people blamed Adam back for not representing.

After reading Genesis 2 and 3 over again, well I know that GOD created everything perfect because well GOD doesn’t make junk.  But, I’m not sure that Adam and Eve are to be blamed so, so much.  It seems to me that the serpent (or devil) showed up on the scene lightning fast.  It seems to me that Adam and Eve didn’t have much time to enjoy each other, the garden, or GOD, because after reading again, they don’t seem to know much.  I also think there was no time for the ‘social’ order that GOD commanded for creation to form before the evil one got there. Book suggestions, doh!

I just took a trip down to San Francisco to see my long-time friend from high school. Oh, it had been perhaps seven years since I’ve seen him. We’ve both gotten married, my wife and I had a baby, he sold his internet company, sfstation.com, and bought a house in SF (very nice!).  His wife is a senior editor and to make conversation I mentioned that I’m a reader.  She’s a writer and reader, I’m a reader…isn’t that nice?  She then asked me what do I read?  I said the Bible, Christian books, and Christian fiction.

Having read my about page, could someone or some people please help me out with some books suggestions?  I really need to broaden my horizons when it comes to books.  Really.

Our new President Obama!

A new president is in the White House.  President Barack Obama!  I’m full of hope for this new administration.  President Obama seems like a strong, intelligent, upright, and passionate leader.  Time will tell.  I’m not sure that I really have anything to add.  There is so much conversation going on about our new president right now.  Just do a google search and you’ll see.  This monumental event should be recorded even in my humble little blog.  I’ll be praying for you, Mr. President.

The movie ‘Religulous’ with Bill Maher can be viewed gratis here.  It’s good to see another perspective.  Bill Maher raises some good questions and has a good point that perhaps some of us Christians can get a little kooky and too serious.

Are gay people born gay?

Before people start hating, let me first say.  I never had any gay friends.  Not that gay people cannot be friends with me, I like all kinds of people.  But that’s the fact.  Guam is one of those places where there are really no homeless and you hardly ever come across a gay person.  Strange, huh?  And overall, Chinese people are not gay.  I think those of you with greater understanding and command of the English language know what I mean.

My wife has cousins that are gay.  So now, I have family that is gay.  And I choose to love and understand my family. (more…)

Have compassion

It must have been about four years ago.  I was watching the house while my parents were away.  One morning, when I got to the bottom of the stairs to look around the house, I saw a little cat.  It meowed weakly.  It needed food.  But I had a hard heart and chased it away.  The next morning, I saw that cat again.  This time it had crawled into the garage and died.  I buried it. Our heavenly Daddy

I was watching my boy sleep.  Does GOD look down at me when I’m sleeping?  When I look at my boy sleeping there so still, my heart goes out to him.  Does my eternal GOD feel that incredible love for me while looking at my sleeping, frail, fleshy form?  I think so.  Before I came downstairs to the office, I whispered “Daddy loves you” to my son.  Does GOD do that to us adults as we sleep?  Yes, I think so. On Marriage 2 – Shopping

shoppingToday I was shopping with my wife at Bellevue Square Mall. I was really good. Actually, I’ve been good for a while. When I think back to when we just got married, I was not a good shopper. My wife and I would get into verbal spars in the mall because frankly I did not want to be there. I didn’t like shopping.  I still don’t. (more…)

Pastor Mark Driscoll on Pastor Joel Osteen

Pastor Mark Driscoll:  What I do find concerning, though, is there’s this whole way of new Christian thinking that says Joy IS to be found in the same place that culture and spirituality tells us.  Get rich, get healthy, get happy…health and wealth, prosperity.

Me: A few years ago on Guam, I left my Presbyterian church to attend a Pentacostal church.  I returned to my home church and then left again to attend a Baptist church.  What do I think I learned?  There are no perfect churches.  Different churches tend to preach on different topics and thus have different emphasis.  This goes back to the fact that pastors do not know the whole Bible.  Even the best pastors have certain “specialties”.   Forgive the medical terminology, my dad is a doctor.

I don’t think Joel Osteen is leading others to seek out riches and health as an end in itself.  Just recently I saw Pastor Osteen on Larry King.  He “admitted” to having money, but reminded everyone that having money is not a sin.  It is when the money has you is when you are sinning.  I think Pastor Osteen is a good man. Thinking of Guam

It’s 2 a.m. here in Seattle.  Church is in 8 hours.  I’ll go to bed right after this.  Hmmm.  My wife, son, and I just moved out here two months ago from Guam.  We did it, amongst other reasons, for a better life.  Then why do my wife and I think so much about Guam?

You know what I miss already? (more…)

Planetshakers music

Hey, if you’ve never heard Planetshakers take a listen.  First of all, don’t they have a great name? They’re all from Australia, the land down under. Check them out more through their website, Planetshakers.com.

To all the aspiring business owners…

I’ve owned three businesses in the last ten years, I’m 35.  I worked for companies in between as well.  But I’d like to pass on some of what I think I learned, if you will.

0) Location, location, location.

1) Consider a franchise.  If marketing, including advertising is not your forte, and if you are not manufacturing your own product, you might do better with a franchise.  Start-ups (at least the ones I did) require a lot of expensive advertising.  Franchises not only have a name, but may have advertising programs for you to take advantage of.  Just buying wholesale and marking up the 30-40% to retail is not going to cut it.  You won’t make money.  Unless you have some good sources of products, it may be better to go with a franchise which will sell you products cheaper because they supply all their franchisees. Some thoughts on the Gospel of Jesus Christ

I originally intended for this blog to be more balanced.  But it appears that I am a hopeless Christian nerd, as a friend of mine once put it.

The Gospel of JC is…simple, but also complex.  My prayer for those of you that seek to understand but don’t to mediate on it, and ask GOD, our LORD Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit will teach you.  I don’t understand it totally myself.   I know that Jesus Christ died for our sins, that if any man accepts Him as Lord and Saviour, he will be saved.

What is the Gospel?  It is Good News!  The good news is that you have a way to get to heaven.  Heaven is a perfect place where we will have no more worries, suffering, and tears.  I have a pet theory that heaven is actually out there; like in Star Trek 5 The Final Frontier.  But that it’s an outer sphere to that of our physical universe.  It’s extremely far away.  No starship could take us there.  I found estimates that the universe is 156 billion light years wide.  Just as man reaches to heaven but falls short (way, way short).  We can never hope to get to heaven under our own steam.  Jesus Christ can take you there.  After all He is GOD and is all-powerful.  In the Holy Bible, it says that when you die (as a believer), His angels will usher you there.  I really look forward to that. On Marriage

I’m sitting here early Monday morning, while my wife is upstairs doing her thing; making us all breakfast.  I’m thinking what a lucky dog I am.  For all my young friends out there, I’d like to share my thoughts after almost two whopping years of marriage.  Don’t worry this will be brief…I can smell my eggs from here.

My pastor’s wife told me that marriage is a commitment.  I believe that.  There already have been times when my wife and I really were not getting along.  Thank GOD for my parents who always helped us through.  Sometimes I wonder if we would have separated if not for my son.  I don’t say this to scare people away from marriage because my wife and I both have very strong personalities.  We’re both imperfect people, but we’re learning to work together and how to “disagree without being disagreeable” is how I’ve heard it said.

Marriage is an experiment of love.  Ok, sounds cheesy but I also believe that.  If it’s true that people yearn to love and be loved, to know and be known, marriage is your most intimate relationship.  My wife knows me best.

Alright, you must be thinking tell me something I don’t know.  I married at 35.  35!  I didn’t plan it that way.  When I hit 32, I thought perhaps GOD wanted me single.  So I decided that I wouldn’t stress about it and just focused on working at various Christian ministries on Guam.  My parents actually turned me around on this and told me to find someone.  They knew I wouldn’t be happy as a single person for the rest of my life.  It was awkward trying to find my wife.  On Guam, people marry young.  I’m talking 18 or 20.  Everyone my age already had two or three kids.  My church was small and mostly composed of older folks.  Church hopping is frowned upon, so what’s a guy to do? Goals for 2009

It’s a new year, 2009, and I’m excited.  This could be my best year yet!  I’ve been having fantastic years lately.  In 2007, I met, engaged, and married my wife.  Also in 2007, I saw the birth of my son.  In 2008, I had a good financial year and moved to Seattle.  What does 2009 hold?  I’m watching and waiting.

My goals for 2009:

– Get working.  Perhaps also setup a side business doing web development.

– Write a book.

– Finish my business plan for a cafe type eatery.

– Lose a few.  Gotta squeeze in some gym time.

– Hopefully my wife and I will be able to open our eatery this year.

– Make some good friends.

– Read through the Bible.  I’m currently at Isaiah.  I made it known before I left Guam that I wanted to be a pastor.  I still do.  But I still haven’t gotten the call.  My mom said don’t even think about the pastorate if you haven’t even read through the Bible once.

That’s all I can think of for now.  I’m usually doing too many things at once.  Serving the LORD is important to me.  Where GOD has me right now is ministering to my wife and son.  I’m happy to do that.

Cheers to all the Rebecca St. James’ out there

I just saw Ms. Rebecca St. James on television last night.  For those of you not familiar with her, she is an award-winning Christian singer.  I was mentioning to my wife that she is not married and is saving herself for marriage.  My wife’s response was she’s a virgin?  So a lot of people must want her.  I just laughed.  Rebecca St. James made a vow of purity when she was 15.  Her birthyear was 1977, so you do the math.

Doesn’t it just defy logic that such an amazing person could still be single?  But not as amazing as my wife! (more…)

Side note:

To my fellow Brothers and Sisters out in the Christian blogosphere:  Could you please help me out?  I know that the founders of Wendy’s and KFC were Christian.  But are there any good books out there by Christian businessmen?

– – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

Money, the root of much evil.  At the church my parents attend on Guam, I remember a few years back, an elder of that congregation told me that he didn’t like or trust business people.  Not in those words exactly, but I heard it.  Maybe he was testing me.  Perhaps he was cheated one too many times.  I still dont’ know.  But that definitely got me thinking.

Does GOD not like business people?  Is there a way to do business that honors GOD?  What about money?  Is it bad?  I encountered attitudes from people in the church that spoke that money was bad.  That it is more spiritual to be poor.  Afterall, our LORD was a carpenter’s son.  He did not have a lot of money.

It has taken me some time, but I feel comfortable with who I am.  I’m not telling everyone I have a lot of money.  I don’t.  But I have the drive to create wealth.  Please don’t confuse that with desiring to be rich as the Bible says it.  Or wanting to have money.  Ooo, that sounds so bad.  Ask my wife, I’m not a materialistic person.  I don’t collect things.  But so much good can be done with money for the glory of Jesus Christ. Sleeping is fun with a little baby boy.  Says me.  My wife gets kicked and slept on by my 1 year old.  So sometimes she retreats to the guest room to get some peace and quiet.  Then I wake up because she’s not next to me.  Then my baby boy falls down off the bed because we were not there to “bracket” him in.  Fun, fun stuff.  If you don’t have a kid yet…I highly recommend it.
